The Emperor is one of the two editions MPC added to its CHAO series in a second campaign (the other is the Yin Yang). It keeps the series' theme (four Chinese imperial dynasties: Han, Tang, Ming and Qing) and presents it in a palette of bronze and gold.

Design

The back is bronze and carries a layer of gold foil (metallic stamping) with the CHAO pattern, precisely applied over the print. The faces were printed with a new colour palette compared with the earlier editions. As in the rest of the series, the kings, queens and jacks are emperors, empresses and generals from the four dynasties, each suit corresponds to one of them, the Ace of Spades bears a Chinese dragon and the jokers depict two historical figures. The tuck box extends the design, is embossed and combines two foil stampings, bronze and gold; the flap carries a “II” that identifies this second generation.

Manufacturing

It is printed by MPC (MakePlayingCards) itself. It is an edition limited to 3,000 decks and the publisher states that it will not be reprinted.
