Dan & Dave Ultimate Deck
Professional poker decks for home and casino
Poker decks are the standard-size playing cards (63×88 mm) most used worldwide: the base of any Texas Hold'em, Omaha or blackjack table, the default material for any magician learning cartomagic, and the favorite format of collectors and designers. At The Joker House you'll find nearly 200 models: from the iconic Bicycle Rider Back good for everything, through 100% plastic casino-grade decks that resist wear, to premium decks with special finishes for serious home games.
What makes a poker deck different
Unlike bridge decks (narrower), poker decks measure 63×88 mm — a size designed to comfortably hold several cards in fan, whether you're left- or right-handed. Pro brands use paper with air-cushion (Bicycle) or cambric finish that prevents cards from sticking, prolongs the deck's life and improves the feel during shuffles. In competitive play (cash games at clubs, live tournaments, pro events) it's common to use 100% plastic Copag or Bicycle Prestige decks: pricier but practically eternal and resistant to spills.
How to pick your poker deck by use
- For casual home games: Bicycle Rider Back or Tally-Ho. Cheap (€4–7), durable enough for weekly games, with the classic look everyone recognizes.
- For frequent play and poker clubs: Bicycle Prestige (100% plastic) or Copag 4PKR. They survive thousands of hands without bending and shrug off drink spills.
- For gifts or premium look: Theory11 Monarchs, Theory11 Artisans, Kings Wild Project Americana or Riffle Shuffle Co editions. Poker-size decks with finishes that look like jewelry.
- For collecting and playing at the same time: limited Bicycle editions (with foiling and anniversary themes) and indie custom decks released via Kickstarter.
- For outdoor or pool deck use: plastic Bee or Copag decks — water and beer spills don't ruin them.
French vs Spanish deck
When we say "poker deck", we always mean the French deck: 52 cards + 2 jokers, four suits (hearts, spades, diamonds, clubs). The Spanish deck (coins, cups, swords, clubs) is for games like mus, brisca and tute. For poker, you always want the French deck.
Poker deck brands in our catalog
Bicycle
The best-selling deck in the world since 1885. United States Playing Card Company. The Rider Back and Standard are the gold standard of amateur and pro poker.
Tally-Ho
Sister brand to Bicycle, also USPCC. The Fan Back and Circle Back are legendary. Premium linoid finish, often preferred by magicians.
Fournier
Spanish brand and a global reference for plastic-coated casino cards. Heraclio Fournier since 1868, now part of Cartamundi.
Bee
The official deck of many American casinos. Borderless design with red or blue diamond back. A must for serious play.
Theory11
For those who want more than just play: poker decks with luxury design and finish. Monarchs are the best-selling line.
Kings Wild Project
Jackson Robinson. Themed editions with very high quality. A play deck that doubles as a collectible.
Frequently asked questions about poker decks
Is Bicycle 100% plastic?
No. The Bicycle Standard and Rider Back are paper with an air-cushion plastic-like coating. Only the Bicycle Prestige line is 100% plastic (PVC), which is what's used in competitive play and casinos.
Which poker deck lasts longest?
100% plastic decks (Bicycle Prestige, Copag 4PKR, KEM) last 50–100 times longer than paper. The upfront cost (€25–40) pays off in a handful of sessions if you play often. They survive spills, bends and stains that would destroy a paper deck in a single night.
Difference between poker and bridge decks?
Size. Poker: 63×88 mm. Bridge: 57×88 mm (narrower). For poker always go for the first. Bridge decks are used in the bridge game where each player holds 13 cards in fan.
Can you shuffle plastic poker decks by hand?
Yes, perfectly. They feel different from paper but allow riffle, overhand and strip shuffle without trouble. Some players prefer them because they don't get sticky after several sessions like paper does when humidity creeps in.
How many cards are in a poker deck?
52 game cards plus 2 jokers, though some brands include 1–2 extra cards (advertising, ad card, double back). Total in the box: 54–56 cards.
Best deck to teach kids?
Any Bicycle Rider Back works. If kids are very young and you want a near-indestructible deck, get a Bicycle Prestige plastic.
