Pocket skill games and logic games
This is a small category and we describe it exactly as it is. Right now it brings together three things: pocket IQ logic games to play solo or as a duel, Pocket Disc soft flying discs crocheted by hand, and a contact coin from Aroundsquare to play with your fingers. Everything shown as available is in our Madrid warehouse.
If you are looking for metal, wooden or Kong Ming lock puzzles, you will find them in brain teaser puzzles.
IQ logic games: progressive challenges in a travel-size format
They all work the same way: a small board, some pieces and a booklet of challenges ordered from easy to hard. Each challenge shows how the board starts or what you need to achieve, and you place the remaining pieces. They fit in a backpack and need no batteries or screen, which makes them a handy travel logic puzzle.
IQ Focus
The SmartGames IQ Focus has ten pieces made of coloured cubes and 120 challenges: you have to place them so the central square shows the pattern each challenge asks for.
IQ Arrows
In IQ Arrows the pieces carry arrows and the goal is to fit them all so they point as shown in each of its 120 challenges.
IQ Number Puzzle
The IQ Number Puzzle uses pieces shaped like the digits 0 to 9, like those on a digital display. You have to fit them together and, in many challenges, make the sums add up.
IQ ball games
The IQ Puzzle Game with balls has 120 challenges solved flat or by building a pyramid. The two-player IQ Game is a duel with two facing boards and 110 challenges on cards: whoever completes theirs first wins.
Pocket Disc: soft cloth flying disc
Pocket Disc are soft cotton flying discs, crocheted by hand by artisans in Guatemala. They fold up and fit in a pocket. There are two versions. The Indoor has a looser stitch and is very soft, designed for playing at home and with children: we have the Indoor El Fuego and the Indoor Fleur Royal. The Sports is heavier and flies further, for playing outdoors, such as the Sports Atitlan.
Aroundsquare Deadeye: contact coin
A contact coin is a coin made to be rolled and passed between your fingers, in the same family of skill toys as the begleri. The Aroundsquare Deadeye is concave, with a finger dip on each side, and ours is in white Delrin (an engineering plastic, acetal), very light. It works just as well for learning moves as for holding in your hand while you think.
As a gift
An IQ game is a small gift that makes sense as soon as it is opened, and the two-player version works for family play. An Indoor Pocket Disc is a good choice for young children because it is soft. There are more ideas in brain teaser gifts and in the gift guide. If you are interested in skill toys with more depth, take a look at the kendamas or the Rubik's cubes.
