Someone who is starting out

The MoYu MeiLong 2x2 + 3x3 pack includes the two basic cubes, without magnets or stickers. It is the simplest starting point: first the 2x2, which has fewer steps, and then the 3x3.

What to check before buying a cube set

Magnetic or non-magnetic

Magnetic cubes settle into place at the end of each turn and are less likely to be left half-turned. The MeiLong M sets have them; the beginner 2x2 + 3x3 pack and the 2x2 to 7x7 6-Pack do not. To learn, either option works.

Stickerless or with stickers

On stickerless cubes the colour is in the plastic itself and does not peel off with use. Bundles with stickers, such as the black QiYi bundle or the MoYu carbon fibre one, have a more classic look.

MoYu MeiLong

MeiLong is MoYu's beginner range, sold under the MFJS sub-brand. The MeiLong M cubes in the sets are the same ones we sell individually in 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 and 5x5, so if the gift is a hit, they can move on to mid-range models from the same brand.

Which set includes a timer?

The MoYu MeiLong M Competition Set, which comes with a timer and mat. It is for training at home; at official competitions only StackMat timers on the WCA list are used.

Do the cubes come assembled and ready to use?

Yes. They leave the factory assembled and with the tension set. The MeiLong M set in a gift box includes a screwdriver in case you want to adjust it.

Can the cubes in the sets be used in competition?

The MeiLong cubes in the sets are stickerless, with one colour per face, and WCA regulations allow magnets. The Mastermorphix, the Ivy Cube and the keychains do not correspond to any official event.
