Speedcubing accessories: timer, mat and pouches
This is where you will find Rubik's cube accessories: the cube timer to time yourself, the speed cube mat, pouches and boxes to store your cubes. To be clear: right now we have only a few items in this section. What you see in the list is in our Madrid warehouse, and below we explain what else you will find around the shop.
What we have right now
Set with timer and mat
The MoYu MeiLong M Competition Set includes the MoYu timer, a mat and a guide, together with the magnetic MeiLong 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 and 5x5. It is a way to get cubes and a timer in a single purchase.
Clock pouch
The QiYi Clock pouch is a round zip case made to fit the QiYi Clock, to store it and carry it protected.
Cubes with a display box
Some cubes come in a box that doubles as a display stand: the MoYu RS3M V5, the MeiLong 4x4 M and the MeiLong 2x2 in a robot-shaped box, and the QiYi Warrior magnetic UV in a display box.
Screwdriver for adjusting
The MoYu MeiLong M Set in a gift box includes a screwdriver to adjust the tension of each cube.
Speedcubing timer: what it is for and which one is used in competition
A Rubik's cube timer starts when you lift your hands off the sensors and stops when you put them back down. That way you time yourself just as in a competition and can see whether you are really getting faster. The mat gives a soft, non-slip surface that protects the cube when you put it down at the end.
At official WCA competitions only timers on its approved list are used, which are the Speed Stacks StackMat timers. From 2 January 2027 the G5 model in four-sensor mode will be mandatory. For training at home any timer will do, such as the MoYu one in the set.
Cube lube and maintenance
WCA regulations allow cubes to be sanded and lubricated inside. A new cube comes with some factory lubricant, and when the turning feels dry or rough you just need to clean it and add a very small amount. Right now we have no lubricants in stock.
Accessories FAQ
Do I need a timer to start?
No. While you are learning to solve the cube, your phone's stopwatch is enough. A timer with sensors makes sense when you want to measure averages and track your progress, for example when learning the CFOP method.
Can the timer in the MoYu set be used in competition?
Not at an official competition: only StackMat timers on the WCA list are used there. For training at home it works just as well.
Do I need to lubricate a new cube?
Not to start with. Do it when the turning feels dry, and use only a little.
What gift comes with an accessory included?
