ENIGMAS is a deck that, besides being playable, hides a pastime: four of its cards are puzzles that, once solved, give access to an online puzzle hunt. The idea comes from illusionist and puzzle maker David Kwong, and the Midnight edition is a new colourway in the series, with a nocturnal palette and silver details.

Design

The Midnight edition replaces the original colours with a scheme of dark slate blue, black and white, enhanced with metallic silver inks. The illustrations are by Billy French. The tuck box is made of vellum paper (a paper with a soft feel and matte look) and printed with rich black ink and silver foil (metallic stamping). The series' theme is inspired by the Riverbank estate, the setting of Kwong's show The Enigmatist.

The puzzles

The four special cards pose problems designed to be solved with a bit of lateral thinking rather than specialist knowledge, so they are presented as suitable for all ages. Solving all four unlocks the online puzzle hunt, written by Dave Shukan. The puzzle cards are the same as in the previous editions, so anyone who already owns another version will find the same puzzles.

Manufacturing
