Description
The Hero Lock is an assembly puzzle in the Kong Ming Lock series from QiYi, the Chinese brand best known for its speedcubes. It consists of just three interlocking pieces that, once assembled, look like an inseparable block. The challenge is to take it apart and then put it back together unaided.

What is a Luban lock?
Luban locks, also known as Kong Ming locks, are the Chinese version of burr puzzles: puzzles made of notched pieces that hold one another together without glue or screws. Tradition credits their origin to the carpenter Lu Ban or to the strategist Zhuge Liang, known as Kongming. Unlike a Rubik’s cube, nothing turns here: the pieces slide and come apart.
Skill level
With three pieces it is one of the simplest models in the series, but that doesn’t make it a formality: the notches are designed so that the way out isn’t obvious. It works well as a first Luban lock, a small gift or a quick challenge to keep on your desk.
