Design

Sweets sums up its look with a comparison: it sparkles like a disco ball or the metalflake paint on a bass boat. That shimmer shows best when the tama (the ball) is spinning in the air. The name Bobber refers to one of the brand’s most popular designs, created in 2015 for the Sweets team at the Kendama World Cup. The ken uses the Broken Shape, designed in 2025 by pro Josh Kim by combining ideas from earlier shapes: slightly larger cups, base and tama, which make learning easier and leave room for new tricks.

Materials and finish

Both ken and tama are beech, the tama measures 62 mm and the base cup has a bevel with a hole. The most common version comes with Sticky Clear, Sweets’ glossy clear lacquer, which is slightly tacky: it gives grip in balance tricks without preventing you from correcting the ball’s position.
