How to use it
The string connects the tama (the ball) to the ken (the handle). It is threaded through the hole in the ken or the sarado and secured with a knot; at the other end it is tied to the bead that sits inside the tama. It is worth changing when it looks frayed or loses its elasticity, and many players adjust the length to suit their style: about two fingers’ width between the base cup and the ball is the traditional measure, and a little longer is comfortable for juggling tricks.
