Charmers is a deck that Greek designer Lotrek, of OATH Playing Cards, created for American magician Kellar O'Neil. It was funded on Kickstarter at the end of 2019 and came out in two colours, green and purple; this is the purple version.

Design

The inspiration is the Victorian era, reinterpreted with a vintage feel. The back is symmetrical and combines symbols, initials and organic shapes, with foil (metallic stamping) details and metallic inks. The court cards are custom, but keep the traditional layout so they can be recognised at a glance. The tuck box features deep embossing and gold foil, one of the usual traits of Lotrek’s work.

Manufacturing

The green and purple editions were printed by Cartamundi, in Belgium, on its B9 Slimline card stock, slightly thinner than standard. The foil on the back is cold foil, a technique that adds metallic shine without the card losing flexibility, so the deck remains easy to handle for magic or for playing.
