High Victorian is a theory11 deck designed in London by illustrator Joe White and made in the United States. It takes as its starting point the ornate decoration of the Victorian era, with ornaments within ornaments, and this red edition is recognisable by the red and gold foil wrapping the tuck box.

Design

Every card was drawn from scratch. Not just the back: the aces, the jokers and the court cards (J, Q and K) also feature the dense ornamentation typical of the Victorian style, with details that emerge the closer you look at the card. The back plays with a sense of depth, as if the artwork had several layers. The tuck box of this version is worked in red and gold foil (a metallic film applied with heat).

Manufacturing

It is produced by theory11 in the United States with the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC). The cards have an Air Cushion finish, a very fine embossing on the surface that creates tiny air pockets and helps the cards glide over one another.
