Jerry's Nugget decks are casino decks highly sought after by collectors. In 1970 the Jerry's Nugget casino ordered these decks from the United States Playing Card Company, but never used them, and they spent some twenty years in storage. When they reached the market, specialist Lee Asher popularised their handling and they became a benchmark; by the end of 1999 they had sold out. The Modern Feel edition came about through an agreement between the casino and Expert Playing Card Company to make them available to the public again.

What this deck is

This is not a regular deck: it is the gaff deck (gaff cards for magic effects) that accompanies the Modern Feel. It contains 56 special cards, with blue and red backs, designed to be combined with a standard Jerry's Nugget Modern Feel. It keeps the original back and face design, including the classic jokers and Ace of Spades.

Manufacturing

It was printed at the United States Playing Card Company on its Premium stock (formerly Bee stock), crushed to a thin calliper similar to that of the original cards. It was made on the factory's rotary press, which prints, coats and cuts from large rolls of paper. The Modern Feel line has a traditional cut, suitable for the faro (a shuffle in which the two halves interlace card by card).
