The design is by Jackson Robinson, founder of Kings Wild Project, and the project was funded through a very well-received crowdfunding campaign.

Design
Each card was illustrated specifically for this deck, with the characters taken from Tolkien’s text and reinterpreted in a style of their own. Alongside very well-known figures such as Gimli, Gandalf the White and Éowyn, there are secondary ones, such as Fimbrethil, Treebeard’s lost Entwife. The suit frames are inspired by the four elements: fire, water, wind and earth.
Unlike the foil edition, the court cards in this version have no metallic foil, and the deck comes in a traditional rust-coloured tuck box.
Editions
Besides this standard version, there is a gold foil edition with a book-style box, and variants with gold card edges.
