The green Vintage Chicken Nugget is one of the two main editions of this deck from Hanson Chien Production Co. The name plays on the Jerry's Nugget, the decks from the Jerry's Nugget casino in Las Vegas (opened in 1964), much sought after by collectors, and on fast-food chicken nuggets.

Design

The saga began in 2012 with the original Chicken Nugget, which copied the look of the Jerry's (colours, Ace of Spades, tax stamp and joker) but replaced the court cards with characters eating doughnuts, popcorn and other treats. For the “Vintage” version, Hanson Chien looked to the oldest edition of the Jerry's, the one printed by Arrco Playing Card Company, a printer that the United States Playing Card Company absorbed in 1987. He obtained an original copy, verified its authenticity and used it as the basis for this new parody, which keeps the traditional structure with a retro touch of a vintage casino deck. In this edition the leading colour is green.

Manufacturing

A specific card stock was developed for this series, called “Vintage”, thinner than usual, with the aim of coming close to the feel of those old decks and being comfortable for cardists and magicians. The collection was crowdfunded in 2020: the main editions were the blue and the green, and the black, sky blue, dark red and green foil were added as stretch goals of the campaign.
