Materials and manufacturing

The deck is pressed from five maple veneers, like a skateboard in miniature, which gives it pop (the crisp snap as you lift it) and flex similar to a skateboard’s. The popsicle shape has the nose and tail raised equally. The graphic is applied by heat transfer and wears with use much as it would on a real board.

Setting it up

X-Wide is the widest size in Blackriver’s classic range: it leaves more room for your fingers and tends to suit anyone who prefers a stable board. This is a deck only: pair it with trucks (the metal axles that hold the wheels) of around 34 mm and wheels with bearings. It comes with a sheet of riptape, the fine foam grip tape stuck on top so your fingers hold without slipping.
