This magnetic QiYi Clock in Glacier Blue belongs to the 2024 edition of QiYi’s Clock, which introduced a revised magnet layout. It keeps the official format of the WCA Clock event: nine dials and four pins per side.

How it works

As with any Clock, the wheels on the edge turn the dials and the pins decide which ones move together; the goal is to set every hand to twelve o’clock on both sides. The magnets make each hand stop with a click at every hour, and they also hold the pins in the up or down position.

The magnet layout

The 208 magnets are distributed between the dials, the buttons (pins) and the rings. The 2024 edition lowers the overall magnetic resistance and balances it: the central dials have a stronger magnetic feel and the outer ones a lighter one. The idea is for turning to feel equally consistent regardless of how many pins are raised. It comes lubricated from the factory.

Which level

It suits anyone who trains or competes in Clock and wants a current model, as well as those just starting the event: solving relies mainly on understanding how the pins and wheels relate, not on memorising lots of algorithms.
