Nonoka Kyodo has played kendama since childhood, trained at a dojo that follows the rules of the Japan Kendama Association and was the first female professional on the Sweets Kendamas team. She won the women’s category at the Kendama World Cup in 2022 and the freestyle at Battle at the Border in 2024. This is her second model with the brand.

Design

In the community she is known as the “queen of stalls”, the tricks in which the ball rests still, balanced on the ken, and her style is built on precision. Her first model with Sweets used the Amped shape and was later reissued on the Legend; this V2 moves to the Broken Shape, designed in 2025 by pro Josh Kim. A kendama is made up of a ken (handle with spike), a sarado (the piece with the side cups) and a tama (the ball), and on the Broken Shape the cups, base and tama are slightly larger than on the brand’s earlier shapes.

Materials and finish

The ken is made of maple, a dense and stable wood, and the tama of beech. This version has Anti-Skid 2.0, a matte clear lacquer that gives grip in balance tricks and leaves room to correct the ball on the fly. Part of every sale goes to the player.
