Spark is a deck by Art of Play, Dan and Dave Buck’s publishing house, developed together with Soulsight, a Chicago creative agency that helps brands with their launches. Its purpose goes beyond play: it is designed as a tool for generating ideas and unlocking creativity.

Design

The deck incorporates 36 cards with short prompts, which encourage you, for example, to trust your intuition or to step out of your comfort zone, and which serve as a starting point for thinking about a problem from another angle. You can use it by drawing a card at random at the start of a work session or in a team meeting, and it also has a playful side.

Manufacturing

It is printed by the United States Playing Card Company on Art of Play’s usual thin card stock, valued by those who handle cards often. The tuck box is printed by letterpress (letterpress, a technique that leaves the design slightly debossed into the paper) and features foil (metallic stamping) details inside and out. It was published as a limited edition of 2,500 copies.
