COBRA is a deck from JP Games, the British label run by Paul Middleton and known for the LUXX series. It was their first project outside that series and was illustrated by Rick Davidson. The goal was a versatile deck that would work equally well for playing, magic and cardistry.

Design

The back shows several coiled cobras in a symmetrical composition, in white on burgundy red. The faces follow the traditional layout with small changes, such as slightly larger suit symbols than usual. The court cards and the back feature metallic gold ink, and the Ace of Spades and jokers have their own cobra-themed designs. The tuck box is burgundy, soft to the touch, with the logo in gold foil (metallic stamping) and embossing. The deck even appeared in the film Poker Face, starring Russell Crowe.

Manufacturing

It is printed by Cartamundi with its cardistry finish (B9), very flexible and with an even glide. Since the 2022 reprint it has also been made on Slimline stock, which is thinner than usual.
