Description
King's Head is a Joker and the Thief series that pays tribute to the so-called golden age of playing card design, taking as its model the decks made by the United States Playing Card Company in the early 1930s. This is its black edition with gold foil, one of the four colour combinations in the series.

Design
The idea was born in Malta, from a 1940s cigarette packet featuring a royal figure in red and blue. Artist Felipe Calavanti carried that inspiration over into an early 20th-century look. The court cards (J, Q and K) are a redrawn version of the classic period courts, so the deck reads naturally during play. It includes an illustrated Ace of Spades and dedicated cards for the Joker and the Thief, the brand's characters, who in the deck's artwork conspire to overthrow the King. The tuck box is richly detailed and, in this version, pairs black with gold foil (metallic foil applied with heat).
