How it works

On a 2x2 the layers turn parallel to the faces; on a Skewb, by contrast, each turn moves half the puzzle around an axis that runs through two opposite corners. The Domino Skewb mixes both types of movement, so to solve it you need to understand how they combine and which pieces each turn carries along. Those who have tried it describe it as very intuitive: it’s solved by reasoning, with few memorised techniques or algorithms.

It suits those new to cubing who want a first puzzle outside the official formats, or anyone who can already solve the 2x2 or the Skewb and is curious about a mixed mechanism. For very experienced cubers it may be easy; its appeal lies more in the novelty of the turning than in the difficulty. It’s made with either a black or a white body.
