The Wingy Skewb V2 M is the magnetic Skewb from X-Man Design, QiYi’s high-end brand. It stands out for its concave design, with slightly sunken faces, and for being the first Skewb with manually adjustable magnet strength. It came out in June 2022 as a revision of the original Wingy.

How it works

The mechanism is that of a Skewb: it turns around four axes that run through opposite corners, and each turn moves half the puzzle. What changes is the outer shape: the concave faces mean it’s gripped and turned differently, and many users find it comfortable in the hand.

Adjustments

Beneath the corner caps, which need to be lifted carefully, you can access three systems: the strength of the magnets (which help each layer stop in alignment), the screw tension and the spring compression, with five positions each. Compared with the first version, it’s considerably lighter and quieter, with smoother corner cutting (the ability to turn even when the layers aren’t fully aligned). It’s stickerless: there are no stickers, the colour is in the plastic itself.

It suits anyone who already practises the Skewb, an official WCA event, and wants a highly adjustable model or a shape that differs from the usual cube.
