The Aroundsquare Deadeye is a contact coin: a disc that is concave on both faces, designed to be rolled and slid between your fingers. This version is machined from black Delrin, a very light engineering plastic, and works both as a skill toy and as a pocket worry stone.

Design

The concave shape leaves a pronounced rim around the disc. That rim is what makes “contact”-style manipulation possible, much like contact juggling with balls: with practice, the coin rolls from one finger to the next, passes from thumb to thumb and allows isolations, moves in which it seems to float around your fingertips. The two hollows also cradle your thumb comfortably when you are simply holding it.

Materials and skill level

Delrin, or POM (polyoxymethylene), is a tough engineering plastic with a smooth, slightly waxy feel. This Deadeye measures 37 mm, the large size in the series, and weighs around 7.5 g, far less than the metal versions. It handles the same tricks, but with so little weight some moves, especially isolations, are harder and call for a finer touch; that is why it is mainly intended as a lightweight piece to play with without weighing down your pocket, or as a first introduction to the series.
