IQ Focus is a pocket-sized logic game for one player, designed by SmartGames as part of its IQ series. Ten pieces made up of small red, blue, green and white cubes fit onto a grey board. Each challenge shows how the central area of the board should look, and the aim is to place all the pieces so that this square reproduces the pattern shown exactly.

How it works

The interesting thing is that the challenge only describes the centre: the rest of the board is up to you, but every piece has to fit. Placing a piece to get a colour in the centre limits the space left outside, so you have to think about both areas at once. The clear lid has a window that shows just the central square, which is handy for checking your result.

What level is it for?

The 120 challenges are graded from starter to expert. The rules are quick to grasp and the first levels are accessible from age 8, while the last ones usually demand a good deal of patience from adults as well. The solutions are at the back of the booklet. As a travel game, the pieces are stored inside the board itself.
