The QiYi Warrior 5x5 is the 5x5 in the Warrior family, QiYi’s budget range. This is its magnetic, UV-coated version, which combines a three-level magnet system with a glossy, high-grip surface.

How it works

The 240 magnets are split into three groups: 96 in the outer layer, 96 in the inner layer and 48 in the middle layer. This triple positioning system helps every layer line up at the end of each turn, which on a 5x5 reduces lock-ups when chaining moves. The small edges and centres and the widened outer layer aim for more control and generous corner cutting (the ability to turn even when the layers are not fully aligned).

Design

It is stickerless (no stickers: the colour is in the plastic itself), in bright colours. The UV coating is a glossy layer that improves grip. The centre caps are one-piece so they do not pop off, and the pieces have anti-snag grooves that reduce friction. It measures 59 mm, a compact size for a 5x5, and weighs about 110 g.

What level it suits

It suits anyone who already solves the 5x5 by reduction and wants a stable magnetic cube without moving up to the high end, or anyone coming from the 4x4 who wants to start straight away with a magnetic 5x5.
