Asura Deluxe Red is the most elaborate version of the Asura deck, produced by Card Experiment. Its theme is the realm of the asuras, one of the worlds of Hindu and Buddhist cosmology, associated with desire, conflict and ambition. It builds on the design of the Classic edition and adds metallic finishes and gilded edges.

Design

The illustrations blend the traditional structure of a poker deck with motifs inspired by that mythology. In this edition, gold cold foil (a metallic film applied without heat, which allows very fine detail) covers both the faces and the back, so the artwork shimmers as the cards move. The box is a Fan of Display type, designed to display the deck, and is made of cotton paper with black and gold hot stamping and 3D embossing.

Manufacturing

The 56 cards are printed on 330 gsm German card stock with a black core (a dark inner layer that stops the card from showing through against the light) and a smooth, soft-touch finish. The edges are gilded with foil, a detail typical of collector’s editions.
