Card Mafia, known for its decks with illuminated boxes, devotes this edition to the Mark 1, Tony Stark's first suit of armour, which appears in the film Iron Man. The centrepiece is the circular Arc reactor, which in the saga symbolises Stark's heart and which here lights up with white LED light every time the box is opened.

Design

The back debuts a more metallic-looking colour scheme compared with earlier editions. The box is printed on matte paper with embossing and hot stamping in silver, white and black, and carries an anti-counterfeit holographic label certifying the official Disney licence.

Manufacturing

The cards are printed by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC) with metallic silver ink. The box is the most elaborate part: it closes with magnets and integrates a sensor and an LED lighting circuit that activate when it is opened, with a stated lifespan of more than 100,000 seconds of light and a system that makes it easy to change the battery. It is made with laser engraving and cutting and assembled by hand: each box brings together 20 pieces and around 70 glue points, and assembly takes about an hour.
