Design
The theme starts from the presence of mandala-like symbols in cultures all over the world, from alchemy to the Mayan calendar. Its repetitive, infinite pattern is associated with the cyclical: the seasons, life and death. Today mandalas are also used as a relaxing pastime, for example in colouring books, and it is said that the result reflects the mood of the person drawing them.
Manufacturing
It is printed by WJ Playing Card Company on 300 gsm German stock with a black core (a dark inner layer that stops the card from showing through against the light and gives it body). The finish is air-cushion, a very fine embossing that helps the cards glide. The print run was limited to 600 decks.
