The MoYu RS3M V5 is the fifth generation of the RS3 M, one of MoYu’s best-known budget magnetic 3x3s. This is the standard version, the simplest and lightest in the V5 range: it keeps the magnets of the other variants but does without the spring-based tension adjustment system.

How it works

It has 48 factory-fitted magnets. As they approach the aligned position, the pieces attract each other and the layer tends to settle into place, which reduces overshooting and makes algorithm execution more predictable. With no spring-based adjustment system, the tension (how tightly the layers are held together) is set the classic way, with the core screws.

Design

It’s stickerless (no stickers: the colour is in the plastic itself), with a matt surface. At around 65 g it’s the lightest variant in the RS3 M V5 family, ahead of the dual adjustment (67 g), MagLev (71 g) and Ball-Core (75 g) versions. A light cube is less tiring on the hand during long sessions, although some people prefer the stable feel of a heavier one.

What level is it for?

It’s often chosen as a first magnetic cube or as a daily practice cube for anyone who already solves the 3x3 and wants to bring their times down without fiddling with setups. It also works as a spare cube to carry around.
