The MeiLong 5x5 M is the magnetic version of the 5x5 in the MeiLong line, the budget range that MoYu sells under its sub-brand MoFang JiaoShi (MFJS). It came out in 2020 and is one of the most widespread entry-level magnetic 5x5s.

How it works

The magnets come fitted in the pieces and mark the moment a layer lines up with a light “click”. On a 5x5, with five layers per axis, this helps you avoid leaving layers out of place when chaining turns. The tension (how tightly the layers are held) is adjusted with the screws in the core. It is usually solved by reduction: first the centres, then the grouped edges and finally as a 3x3.

Design

It is stickerless (no stickers: the colour is in the plastic itself), so there are no stickers to wear out, which is welcome on a cube with so many pieces. At 60 mm it is a compact 5x5, the size of many 4x4s, and it weighs about 108 g. User reviews describe it as stable and light, with moderately strong magnets.
