Description
The Heart Breaker is a wire puzzle in Professor Puzzle’s Matchbox Puzzle series, from the British puzzle brand. It consists of two linked metal pieces: one bent into a heart shape and another with several loops wrapped around it. As the name suggests, the challenge is to “break” the bond by separating the heart from the other piece, and then to join them again.

How it works
It’s a disentanglement puzzle: the pieces have no clasps or moving parts, and they only come free if you find the correct sequence of moves. In wire puzzles the shape of each loop matters, and here the heart outline adds a visual touch that makes it instantly recognisable. Forcing the pieces doesn’t help and can bend the wire out of shape.
Because of its theme it is often chosen as a small gift, especially on special occasions.
What’s included
The puzzle comes in the series’ matchbox-style box, decorated with hearts. Nine more matchstick challenges are printed on the sides.
