Fulton Street 1958 Edition is a FULTONS deck devoted to the 1958 New York City subway map. That map, the work of George Salomon, is considered the beginning of a coherent graphic system for the New York subway and paved the way for Massimo Vignelli's well-known 1972 map. The deck is officially licensed by the MTA, New York's transport authority.

Design

It is a fully custom design. It uses graphics created by Salomon himself, who proposed bringing order to the subway's signage and maps because he felt it lacked a unified visual identity. The court cards and extra cards were designed by Brad Fulton based on Out of the Labyrinth, the manifesto in which Salomon set out how to improve the subway's image.

Manufacturing

It is printed in China by WJPC on a stock designed for cardistry (the art of creating striking shapes and cuts with cards). The matte paper tuck box is embossed.
