Description
Tanuki Yukaku is a Room One deck set in the yukaku, the old Japanese pleasure quarter, and starring tanukis, the raccoon-like animal so present in Japanese folklore. It is the first deck in the second season of Room One’s collection. The Oiran-Dochu edition takes its name from the festive parade of courtesans that provides the theme for its illustrations.

Design
The court cards show the residents of the yukaku in detail, reimagined as tanuki courtesans. The number cards hide a puzzle: if you put each suit in order, they form a makimono (an illustrated scroll read horizontally) with tanuki characters in the middle of the Oiran-Dochu parade. All 55 cards are custom.
The tuck box
The Ume Matsuri tuck box, in gold and bronze tones, evokes spring blossom. It has a flower-decorated sliding door that opens on both sides and is finished with embossing and hot foil (metallic stamping applied with heat).
