Design
The faces are in colour. The back is black, with the CHAO pattern and, in the centre, the yin and yang symbol stamped in gold foil. The series pays tribute to four great Chinese dynasties (Han, Tang, Ming and Qing), one per suit. The kings represent emperors, the queens empresses with the instrument they played, and the jacks generals with armour and weapon. The aces carry Chinese motifs, and the Ace of Spades features a dragon, a symbol of imperial power. The jokers show two historical figures from China.
Manufacturing
The tuck box is black card stock with gold foil, double-stamped, and carries a “II” on the flap identifying the second generation. The card stock specified for the project is MPC’s M32, with a linen texture. The print run is 3,000 decks and, according to the publisher, it will not be reprinted.
