The Fontaine Sleight is the sixth deck in Zach Mueller’s Fontaine series. It was made in collaboration with Blumhouse Productions to mark Sleight (2017), J. D. Dillard’s film about a young street magician. The director, a friend of the brand, asked in 2015 for permission to use Fontaine decks during filming, and this edition grew out of that relationship.

Design

Black Fontaines appear in the film; for this edition a similar shade was sought, and a very dark, midnight navy blue was chosen. The faces are standard, so they read like a classic deck, and the Fontaine seal appears on the Ace of Spades and on both jokers. It also includes a blank-faced card and an ad card.

Manufacturing

It was printed by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC) on Bicycle-quality card stock with a linen finish (linen, a texture of very fine lines that helps the cards glide over one another). It was a limited run of 10,000 decks, twice that of the previous edition (the green Fontaines), so that more fans could get one at its original price. It sold out in about two hours and the publisher announced that it would not be reprinted.
