Description
MATERIA Deep Sea is the first instalment of MATERIA, a line of cardistry decks (cardistry being the art of creating eye-catching shapes and moves with cards) from the Cardistry Touch brand. It came out in 2021 with the idea of offering practice cards at a more modest price: that is why it comes in a standard tuck box instead of the brand’s signature rotating box.

Design
It is not a playing deck: the 51 cards are identical and carry no suits or values. Back and face repeat the same motif, a simple rectangle, in deep-sea tones. That repetition makes complex moves and cuts read clearly, and the contrast between back and face makes each packet stand out as it moves. The faces are also designed to make spreads and fans look their best.
Manufacturing
It is printed by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC) on premium crushed card stock, and comes in a standard tuck box with a matte finish.
