Animal Kingdom is a theory11 deck born from a collaboration with WWF (World Wildlife Fund). The San Francisco studio Hatch Design illustrated it by hand and designed it entirely from scratch, including court cards in which animal heads replace the traditional characters.

Design

Each suit is associated with a habitat: according to collectors’ descriptions, hearts correspond to the grasslands, diamonds to the jungle, clubs to the wetlands and spades to the Arctic. The red and black suits each have their own colour scheme, with orange-toned pips on the red suits. The jokers also feature animals.

Manufacturing

It was released in 2012 and is printed in the United States by the United States Playing Card Company, on FSC-certified paper (from sustainably managed forests), with vegetable-based inks and starch-based laminates. For years, theory11 donated one dollar from every deck sold to WWF conservation programmes.
