Orbit is the playing card brand founded by Chris “Orbit” Brown, closely tied to cardistry (the art of creating eye-catching shapes and moves with cards). This CC 2nd Edition is the second Orbit deck made for Cardistry-Con, the international cardistry gathering, for its 2022 edition held in San Diego. 5,000 decks were printed.

Design

The design is one-way, meaning it is not symmetrical, so you can tell whether a card has been turned around. The jokers are illustrated as a panoramic postcard. The deck also includes a double-backer (with a back on both sides) and a duplicate 8 of Spades, extra cards that come in handy for some magic effects. The tuck box has a matte finish.

Manufacturing

It is printed on thin crushed stock (compressed at the factory to make the card softer and more flexible) with an Air Cushion finish (a very fine embossing that helps the cards glide). The cards have a traditional cut, one of the two cutting directions used in printing, which affects how the cards mesh when doing faro shuffles (interweaving them one by one).
