The Honeybee is a deck designed by Randy Butterfield that takes the feel of casino decks as its starting point and carries it over to the world of the bee. This is the third version (V3), in black, printed by the United States Playing Card Company with the Bicycle seal on the box.

Design

The back, now borderless, brings back the honeycomb pattern of earlier versions and turns the mascot bee in a new direction. The faces are traditional with several custom touches: the Ace of Spades is a beehive, the jokers are beekeepers, the hearts and diamonds have a deeper red and the court cards have a custom colour scheme and background. The seal on the tuck box is also custom.

Manufacturing

It is printed on casino-quality Bee stock with the finish the manufacturer calls “Magic”. It has a traditional cut, the method in which the blade enters from the face of the card, giving an edge that many prefer for certain shuffles and magic techniques.
