What is the Pyraminx?
The Pyraminx is a tetrahedron-shaped puzzle and one of the official WCA events. It has tips that turn independently and layers that move as on a cube. For beginners it’s usually more approachable than the 3x3: much of the solve can be worked out by reasoning, without memorising lots of algorithms.
Design
The carbon-fibre stickers give it a dark, eye-catching look, with the colour of each piece framing the sticker. Because the colour is limited to the edge, recognising the pieces is a little harder than on a Pyraminx with solid colours. The plastic is matte, with medium grip. It has no magnets, and with heavy use the stickers may wear or peel off.
Which level
It works as a first Pyraminx or as a decorative piece for anyone who already solves other puzzles. Those looking for a competition model usually go for a magnetic one.
