The MoreTry Tianma X3 V2 Enhanced is the second version of the Tianma X3, a 3x3 that MoreTry offers in four levels of magnetisation. This one, also called Double, adds magnets in the bases of the corners and edges to the usual magnets between pieces, for 96 magnets in total.

How it works

In a magnetic cube, magnets placed between the pieces make the layers tend to align at the end of each turn. The Tianma X3 V2 doubles up on that system with magnets in the bases, which act against the core and give a stronger magnetic feel than the single version. According to specialist retailers, it starts aligning the layer around 20 degrees before it reaches its position, twice as early as the V1.

Setup

The core is dual-adjustment: tension (how tightly the layers are held together) and spring compression are set separately, with several compression settings. A screwdriver is included for this. Some users find the magnets a little strong out of the box; adjusting the tension helps balance control and speed.

The Tianma X3 series

The range is organised into V1 (Single, 48 magnets), V2 (Double, 96), V3 (Triple, 120) and V4 (Super, with MagLev). The higher the level, the more magnetic assistance and the slightly greater the weight.
