The MoreTry Tianma X3 V3 Triple Magnetic is the third tier of the Tianma X3 series. As well as the magnets between pieces and in the bases, it adds a magnet in the centres that repels the magnets in the corner bases, so the layer gets a small push halfway through a turn. Some shops sell it under the nickname Snap.

How it works

In a magnetic cube, the magnets between pieces help the layers align at the end of a turn. The V3 goes further: once the layer passes the halfway point, the repulsion between the centre magnet and the corner magnets drives it towards its position, and the normal magnets finish settling it in. According to specialist retailers, the automatic alignment kicks in from around 45 degrees. This makes for very fast turning with a clear snap, although it’s noticeably louder.

Setup

It shares the dual-adjustment core with the rest of the series, which sets tension and spring compression separately. Several users point out that out of the box it can feel too fast or unstable, and that lubricating it and tightening the tension a little makes it more controllable.

What level is it for?

Designed for anyone who has already mastered the 3x3 and wants to try a system with strong magnetic assistance. Those coming from cubes with little magnetisation will need a few sessions to get used to it.
