The Ziina Emoji Cube 3x3 is a picture cube from the Chinese brand Ziina: instead of a plain colour, each face carries a different emoji (a crying face, a sleeping one, a laughing one…). This is the yellow version.

How it works

Inside it’s a conventional, non-magnetic 3x3. When you scramble it, the emojis end up in fragments all over the cube, and solving it means bringing each picture back together on its own face. The same methods apply as for a coloured 3x3. The difference lies in the centres: on a normal cube it doesn’t matter which way they’re turned, but here the picture has to end up the right way up, so you also need to watch their orientation, which adds a step or two at the end.

What level is it for?

It works as a fun cube or a gift, especially for younger people, and as an entertaining variant for anyone who already solves the 3x3 and wants to try a picture cube. Because it has pictures instead of plain colours, it isn’t valid for official competition.
