The Void Cube is a 3x3 with the centres removed: instead of the centre piece on each face there is a hole that runs right through the cube from side to side. QiYi makes it in several versions, and this is the best equipped, with positioning magnets and a glossy UV coating.

How it works

Without centres, only the edges and corners are left, and nothing tells you what colour each face should be: you have to work it out from the corners themselves. 3x3 methods largely still apply, but parity cases appear (situations that do not occur on a normal 3x3 and that require specific sequences), because the puzzle has no fixed centres to act as a reference.

Design

It has 48 magnets spread between the edges and corners that pull the pieces in at the end of each turn, so the layers tend to line up and you have more control. It is stickerless (no stickers: the colour is in the plastic itself) and also has a UV coating, a glossy layer that brings out the colour and adds a little grip. It measures 57 mm, the usual size for a 3x3.

What level it suits

You need to be able to solve a 3x3 already: the challenge lies in adapting your method to the lack of centres and learning to solve the parities. Thanks to its look, it is also a common piece in collections.
