The cubes

The cubes are the M (magnetic) versions of the MeiLong series, MoYu’s budget range sold under the MFJS (MoFang JiaoShi) brand. They come with factory-fitted magnets, which pull the pieces so that each layer stops in alignment at the end of a turn, and they’re stickerless: there are no stickers, the colour is in the plastic itself. As they all belong to the same series, the feel is consistent across sizes, making it easier to move from the 3x3 to the 4x4 and 5x5. On the bigger cubes, the magnets are particularly helpful in preventing misalignment.

Adjustment

The cubes arrive ready to use, but their tension (how tightly the layers are held) can be adjusted with the included screwdriver. Some users say they come a little dry and improve with a drop of lubricant, and that the magnets on the 4x4 are softer than they expected.

Which level

It suits beginners who want several sizes from the outset, those who can already solve the 3x3 and want to move on to bigger cubes, or as a gift for an enthusiast. They’re entry-level cubes: good for learning and practising without the cost of high-end models.
