Johnny Raekes is a professional BMX rider and a member of the Sweets Mob team at Sweets Kendamas. He got into kendama through Reed Stark and approaches it with the same technical mindset as the bike: he is after the satisfaction of landing a trick, without the risk of a BMX crash. This is the second version of his signature model.

Design

His first model used the Amped shape; this V2 updates it on the Broken Shape, designed in 2025 by Sweets pro Josh Kim. A kendama is made up of a ken (handle with spike), a sarado (the piece with the side cups) and a tama (the ball). On the Broken Shape the cups, base and tama are slightly larger than on the brand’s earlier shapes, which makes learning easier and gives experienced players room to try new tricks. The artwork revolves around the idea of being present, summed up in the motto “Be Here Now” that accompanies the model.

Finish

This version has Anti-Skid 2.0, Sweets’ latest matte clear lacquer. It gives moderate grip in balance tricks but leaves plenty of room to correct the ball’s position on the fly, and the brand highlights its durability compared with earlier matte lacquers. Part of every sale goes to the player himself.
