The Bicycle Rider Back is considered one of the most recognisable decks: the United States Playing Card Company has sold the Bicycle brand since 1885, and this back, the Rider Back, has been on sale continuously since 1887. This is the red-back version.

Design

The back shows a cherub riding a bicycle surrounded by ornamental motifs, in a symmetrical design with a white border around it. The faces follow the brand’s traditional design, with standard indices in the corners, and the Ace of Spades carries the house emblem. The same deck is available with a blue back.

Manufacturing

It is made by the United States Playing Card Company on its Bicycle stock, with a linen texture and an Air Cushion finish (a very fine embossing that leaves tiny air pockets between the cards and helps them glide when shuffling and dealing). It is a finish designed to keep the cards flexible and able to stand up well to continued use.
