Les Méliès is a series of decks started in 2013 by Derek McKee and dedicated to Georges Méliès, the French illusionist and filmmaker regarded as one of the pioneers of special effects. The Eclipse edition takes his most famous film, A Trip to the Moon, as its reference and comes in an intense red.

Design

It keeps the intricately drawn back that characterises the series and debuts a redesigned tuck box. Like the rest of the line, it has its own Ace of Spades and exclusive jokers. The deck also includes several hidden details designed for those who perform magic; the publisher prefers not to describe them and to let each user discover them on their own.

Manufacturing

It is printed by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC) with an Air Cushion finish (a very fine embossing that helps the cards glide over one another). The red Eclipse version was announced with a print run of 2,500 decks. The deck creator Michael Blau also collaborated on the development of the series.
