The Ziina Emoji Cube 2x2 is a two-layer cube from the Chinese brand Ziina and part of its Emoji series, in which the faces are identified by emojis as well as by colour. This is the stickerless version, meaning there are no stickers: the colour is in the plastic itself.

How it works

Inside it’s a conventional 2x2: two layers per axis and eight pieces, all corners. The goal is the usual one: return each piece to its place with the correct orientation, so that the same images line up again on each face. It’s solved with the standard 2x2 methods; the emojis act as a visual reference and give it a more light-hearted feel than a cube with plain colours. As with all 2x2s, it’s best not to force a corner to twist on itself.

What level is it for?

It works as a fun cube or a gift for someone starting out with puzzles, and as a cheerful variant for anyone who already solves the 2x2. Because it has images on its faces, it isn’t valid for official competition, whose regulations require one plain colour per face.
