The YJ MGC Elite 4x4 is the updated version of the MGC 4x4, YJ’s (Yongjun) magnetic 4x4 that has been a mid-range option for years. The Elite version improves the placement of the magnets, adds tension adjustment and revises the internals so that the pieces catch less.

How it works

The factory-fitted magnets pull the pieces towards the aligned position at the end of each turn. On a 4x4, where both outer and inner layers move, this reduces the misalignments that cause lock-ups. The tension (how tightly the layers are held together) is adjustable, and the internals include an anti-catch design for smoother turning. Some retailers warn that it can feel a little stiff out of the box and that it improves with a good setup.

Design

It’s stickerless (no stickers: the colour is in the plastic itself), in bright colours. It measures 60 mm, the standard size for a 4x4, and weighs around 104 g, slightly less than the original MGC 4x4 (around 114 g).

What level is it for?

It suits anyone who already solves the 4x4 by reduction (centres, edge pairing and a final 3x3 stage) and wants an adjustable magnetic cube for regular practice without going up to the flagship models.
